Kingston has always been an exciting area of West London, especially when it comes to sports for children and young people. In September 2019, Kingston Upon Thames will welcome We Make Footballers, running professional football coaching for players of all abilities ages 4 to 12!
But what is so exciting about the launch of these new football sessions and programme? And why should you sign your child up to experience our coaching?
A new football coaching experience
The coaching delivered at the sessions is the end-product of years of experience in children’s football created by FA, academy and grassroots coaches, ex-players, teachers and scouts!
The syllabus welcomes boys and girls of all levels from beginners to signed players. Since introducing the unique style of coaching over 10 years ago, the quality of the football experience is ever rising and proving successful with players from all backgrounds.
To deliver a fantastic experience for both parents and players, coaches use the “discovery learning” method where children are encouraged to be creative, have fun, trial by error and become more self-confident footballers.
Players of all abilities are welcome
Our name is very bold, we have had many questions from parents and the football community about it. However, “making footballers” is about creating a positive relationship between the player and the sport to help them stay involved in football for as long as possible. We work to normalise the term what it means to be a footballer by making the game as inclusive and accessible as possible.
In summary, we make: casual, park, playground, team, professional, academy, 5-a-side and recreational footballers! Anyone can be a footballer and everyone is welcome in our sport!
We focus on helping boys and girls of all abilities become the best they can be. It’s about developing each individual child at their own pace and contributing to their football journey.
Our player pathways help children reach their footballing potential
As mentioned above, each player has a unique journey in the game with different interests and ambitions. With our network in football, we create player pathways so that everyone is given opportunities.
For some, this may mean stepping into team football at grassroots level. We help them join a team, through our exclusive grassroots partnerships. We partner with a local club and provide them with an Under 6 or Under 7 team from our group at the weekly classes or from the selected players attending the clubs trials that we organise. We can also connect older players with clubs and teams so that they can start playing match football.
For others girls and boys, the professional academy pathway may be an option. With many of our coaches working at clubs, as scouts and our network with professional sides, we are always looking for the next Harry Kane, Raheem Sterling, Fran Kirby, Steph Houghton or Jesse Lingard!
We’ve helped 180 players secure contracts at academies over the years and hope to continue supporting more in their football ambitions.
We also hold open football trials on a yearly basis that professional scouts and grassroots clubs attend to recruit for their teams, so there are always plenty of opportunities at WMF.
A fantastic training venue for year-round sessions in Kingston
The English weather can be questionable at times and for this reason we will be running our classes indoors in the winter months and outdoors in the summer months. This means sessions take place no matter the weather and that children master different skill-sets as they will learn how to play within a variety of environments and spaces.
The Tiffin Girls School have welcomed us with fantastic facilities situated just out of the busy Kingston traffic with plenty of parking for parents and space for you to watch your child having a great time at the sessions! Many of the parents enjoy watching their child develop and enjoy their football on a weekly basis and being part of the experience.
Give it a try, don’t miss out!
With weekly sessions starting in September, we can’t wait to welcome local players from the area. Book your free trial session online today to experience our professional football coaching for children and to launch your child’s football journey. With age groups from 4 to 12, we welcome all players!
We look forward to meeting you!
