About We Make Footballers

The UK’s most trusted junior football coaching

We believe that all football playing countries need a stronger grassroots program if the next generation are to love the sport. While grassroots is the heartbeat of kids loving football, parents are rarely trained or equiped to introduce the sport in those crucial early stages, especially with such large groups and little support.

We Make Footballers are not just equiped, but proven at helping all children, no matter their ability, to be the best footballers they can be. We help our players achieve their potential while enjoying the journey.

15 years

Fifteen years ago we started We Make Footballers to provide best in class football coaching for boys and girls of all abilities.

120+ academies

It’s grown to 106 academies around the country, each now feeding into a local grassroots team and professional club academies when the time is right.

Guided discovery helps to develop creative problem solvers

250+ players signed at pro clubs

Over the years we’ve developed a discovery learning theory to make our training fun, but effective. With over 250 players signed to professional clubs, it seems to be working!

The right approach

We find if you give players all the answers, they get lazy. They don’t think for themselves. They can’t problem solve. We want to present situations in which the environment teaches them and they can learn continuously with no fear of making mistakes.

We Make Footballers believe in a combination of learning through discovery, guided discovery and occasionally an autocratic (controlling) coaching style.

Guided discovery will often speed up the process in which the player finds the ‘right answer’. With trial and error, we are hoping the child gets the answer, however it may not come. The guidance points them in the right direction (the right direction is always open to interpretation).

We recruit the best young coaches in the country

At We Make Footballers, our strength lies in our coaching. We’ve searched far and wide to bring together the best junior football coaches in the country—dedicated professionals with a passion for developing young players.

Our coaches aren’t just highly trained; they’re constantly improving. Through ongoing professional development, close mentoring, and our structured coaching pathway, we ensure every session is delivered with energy, expertise, and enthusiasm.

Beyond FA Qualifications, we’ve created our own We Make Footballers Coach Training Programme—designed to elevate our team and maintain the highest standards across all our academies. This guarantees consistency, quality, and an environment where every child can thrive.

We don’t just make footballers—we also make outstanding coaches.

Qualified, energetic coaching

Many of our academy managers are FA Level 3 qualified, with younger coaches typically holding Level 1 and 2 qualifications. Coaches, often with a high-level playing background, undergo our We Make Footballers exams, ensuring a creative and imaginative coaching environment.

Safe & secure at all times

All of our staff members go through an extensive training programme which ensures you know your children are 100% safe in our care. Every coach must hold a valid DBS check before they can begin working with any children.

Great facilities - rain, hail or shine

We take great pride in the venues we hire and the majority have access to indoor and outdoor facilities during the winter months, which means our training is rarely cancelled!
